Montgomery Township is located in Montgomery County and is governed under the “second Class Township” laws established by the State Legislature. *Montgomery County is the third most populated county in Pennsylvania with an estimated population of 799,874 as of the 2010 Census. Its size is only smaller than those counties which encompass the largest cities in our state, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. Montgomery Township is a suburban community of 10.8 square miles. We are the fastest growing township in the county growing from 5,178 persons in 1980 to 12,179 in 1990 and 24,790 in 2010. The Township of West Bloomfield is located in northern Oakland County and is north of Detroit.
West Bloomfield has a variety of retail stores including several shopping centers including the Hills Mall (Montgomery Mall), which is comprised of 150 stores with three major department stores. The Township also encompasses four industrial parks which are conveniently located near major highways. The industrial parks contain primarily light industrial types of businesses. The median household income grew to $90,660. The per capita income in 1989, as established by the Bureau of the Census, was averaged at about $21,465. In 1989, Montgomery Township had one of the highest household incomes among the sixty-two municipalities in Montgomery County. Montgomery Township is a municipality within the North Penn School District, along with neighboring municipalities including the townships of Hatfield, Towamencin, and Upper Gwynedd and the boroughs of Lansdale, Hatfield, and North Wales. 
Six different post offices service our Montgomery Township community - Montgomeryville, Chalfont, Colmar, Lansdale, Line Lexington, and North Wales. Therefore, your address may be any of these postal services, yet you reside in Montgomery Township. But these post offices have nothing to do with the structure of your local government and sometimes can cause problems if residents do not know the municipality in which they actually reside.  The Board of Supervisors meets on the second and fourth Mondays of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Montgomery Township Municipal Building located at 1001 Stump Road.
